Cons:Lack of interest in students well-being and university experience, the university appeared to be more number and award focused then the best interest of its students. For example the university has a back gate which provided access home to at least half the students who lived off campus, unfortunately the university decided to lock this back gate at night so students heading home after a night out or heading back from the library would have a 40 minute walk opposed to a 10 minute walk. But the real issue is the alternative route was a narrow pathway on a hill where cars are legally allowed to drive at 50 mph, although often drove much faster leaving students vulnerable. It was revealed the university's reasoning for such a decision was to achieve a 'neighbourhood award' , which appears insignificant compared to students safety and well-being. In terms of the course very little support and guidance was provided in how to be successful on the course, unless repeatedly telling students to read texts they don't understand counts. 8 hours teaching a week- 4 hours being rather unhelpful lectures. Direct interaction with lecturers and seminar leaders was super rare, questions would have to be asked in front of the class, I was not always comfortable doing so which meant I had gaps in my knowledge. Suggestions:Try remember that university isn't just for studying it is a huge personal growth experience, and your academic success will be greatly capped if your general happiness is low. An interest in studying a political subject does not necessarily infer a desire to loudly participate in seminars, which is expected of you on this course.
