Cons:wow. where to start.. I wish it was possible to give this uni less than 1 star. pretty much everything about this university is a con - I mean that in both a negative, and also being tricked/ lied to sense. Honestly, the only thing this university cares about is making money - and they really know how to rake it in. There isnt a single thing that isnt free in this uni, in fact, printing companies down the road from the university are cheaper than their own printers. If you thought tuition fees alone where expensive, then think again, because just the cost of using facilities alone will set you back a years worth of tuition. Not only that, but 50% of the time youll find yourself queing the whole day to use these facilities because theres so much demand - what exactly am i paying for again? In terms of my course, the class started with over 100 pupils, and the tutors themselves where missing 80% of the time (should also mention there were only 3 tutors... between 100 students, and that figure seems to be rising each year). In the whole 3 years I was there, we had approx 7 lectures.. YES, you read that right. 7 lectures.. the rest of the time, youre expected to just 'get on with it'. The absent tutors will then mark your work at the end of each term, without having had any input. They all show a complete lack of interest in the students, the only reason theyre there in the first place is because they failed as artists so decided to settle as teachers. Horrible people., Dont be fooled by the reputation of the uni. They are very popular and well esteemed worldwide. Not entirely sure how they achieved this reputation, because their whole ethic is completely corrupt. They are a profit organisation, that disguises itself as an educational institution. Youd think theres still some hope from all of this, after all youre getting a degree from a top uni! nope... if you are going into the creative industries, your degree means jack shit. The only thing that will get you anywhere in most creative industries, is having a good reputation and letting your art work speak for itself. Social media and my own perseverance are the only things that got me to where I am today. University was a complete waste of time - I came out with a first class honours, and not a single company Ive worked for has asked for my education background. Im moving to Berlin to work for a company - everything Ive done to get there has been of my own back. The university had absolutely no part in getting me where I am today. The only thing I came out with was £35,000+ debt. To sum it up, being at University of Arts London was a complete waste of time - no support, no care, and a degree that amount to nothing with a lifetime supply of debt.
Suggestions:Avoid like the plague - let your art speak for itself - there are other ways to get into the industry if you work hard enough and are passionate enough. This place is corrupt and a complete con.
